The Warrior

I highly recommend this post. It's certainly worth a read. That is if you are prepared to think about things in terms bigger than slogans.

"Fiscal Conservatives" Raid The Treasury

It's been my theory all along that this war was started as an excuse to enrich the corporate elite and raid the treasury. This story justifies many of my suspicions.

The auditors have so far referred more than a hundred contracts, involving billions of dollars paid to American personnel and corporations, for investigation and possible criminal prosecution. They have also discovered that $8.8bn that passed through the new Iraqi government ministries in Baghdad while Bremer was in charge is unaccounted for, with little prospect of finding out where it has gone. A further $3.4bn appropriated by Congress for Iraqi development has since been siphoned off to finance "security". .....When the Iraqi Governing Council asked Bremer why a contract to repair the Samarah cement factory was costing $60m rather than the agreed $20m, the American representative reportedly told them that they should be grateful the coalition had saved them from Saddam........Pilfering was rife. Millions of dollars in cash went missing from the Iraqi Central Bank. Between $11m and $26m worth of Iraqi property sequestered by the CPA was unaccounted for. The payroll was padded with hundreds of ghost employees. Millions of dollars were paid to contractors for phantom work. Some $3,379,505 was billed, for example, for "personnel not in the field performing work" and "other improper charges" on just one oil pipeline repair contract. .....At the same time, the IAMB discovered that Iraqi oil exports were unmetered. Neither the Iraqi State Oil Marketing organization nor the American authorities could give a satisfactory explanation for this. "The only reason you wouldn't monitor them is if you don't want anyone else to know how much is going through," one petroleum executive told me.

And this is only a taste. These are the new robber barons. This makes "oil for food" look like sophomoric hijinks. Such hypocrites we have on the right.

The Liberals Have Taken Over The Media

From the Denver Post:

I was informed of this fact by Rush Limbaugh. And Thomas Sowell. And Ann Coulter. And Rich Lowry. And Bill O'Reilly. And William Safire. And Robert Novak. And William F. Buckley, Jr. And George Will.
And John Gibson. And Michelle Malkin. And David Brooks. And Tony Snow. And Tony Blankely. And Fred Barnes. And Britt Hume. And Larry Kudlow. And Sean Hannity. And David Horowitz. And William Kristol. And Hugh Hewitt.
And Oliver North. And Joe Scarborough. And Pat Buchanan. And John McLaughlin. And Cal Thomas. And Joe Klein. And James Kilpatrick. And Tucker Carlson. And Deroy Murdock. And Michael Savage. And Charles Krauthammer. And Stephen Moore. And Alan Keyes.
And Gary Bauer. And Mort Kondracke. And Andrew Sullivan. And Nicholas von Hoffman. And Neil Cavuto. And Matt Drudge. And Mike Rosen. And Dave Kopel. And John Caldara.

Yep, the conservatives can't get a word in edgewise.

For instance, did you know there is an ultra-leftist professor at the University of Colorado named Ward Churchill who wrote an essay three years ago in which he called victims of Sept. 11 "little Eichmanns"? Bet you never heard of him, as the liberal media elite likes to put the kibosh on embarrassing stories like this.
The mainstream media in this country are dominated by liberals. Look at how they all gave Bill Clinton a pass on the whole Monica Lewsinsky affair. Remember? It was never in the news. We never heard any of the salacious details.

And when the Downing Street memo and other Bush/Rove lies come out they are all over it! Wall to wall. Why, they do so much of this I can hardly keep up with the lost Aruba girl. How am I suppose to know what happened to her when there is all this Bush bashing going on?

This just in at Fox News ... the mainstream media in this country are dominated by liberals.

Happy Birthday America!

On the day the United States celebrates its independence I thought it would be a good time to look at what it means to be an American. As we have all discovered in glaring clarity over the last few years it obviously means different things to different people. With that in mind, I speak only for myself.
First let me say I love the highest ideals of this country. Freedom, Liberty, Democracy, Equality and trying to make sure we set an example as the shining beacon of fair play and tolerance. Certainly we have never completely lived up to all of these in totality. The fact that through my life we have made wonderful progress on much of this has heartened me and made me proud of the United States. The fact that for much of my life we have lead the way in science and technology, medicine and education have filled my heart with respect for the can do people of this country. The fact that we have come to the aid and rescue of people who asked for and needed our help, sharing our bounty with the rest of the world has given me a feeling that I was among like minded spiritual beings. When I see myself and like minded individuals condemned as hate America firsters or traitors or friends of the enemy for speaking out when I see all these principals falling by the wayside it fills me with sadness for the direction of our once great country.
The fact is we are now being lead down the precisely the opposite track. Less freedom and liberty, democracy largely in name only, a fight to make sure some are not given equal treatment(gays etc). Science is being poo-pooed as invalid and the realm of heretics. Medical care is a money machine and the highest priced in the world. We are falling behind in education in comparison to the rest of the world. Worst of all America, true or not, has given the rest of the world the impression that we are conquerors and a blight on world peace instead of the true, caring brothers and sisters of the world.
We are taking a giant leap backwards and I am expected not to speak out for fear of being propagandized as unamerican? Not a chance! It's because of my love for this country and the people in it that I speak out. Call me what you will. God knows the truth. I think all is not yet lost. We have had challenging times in our country before and corrected our mistakes before it was too late.
I understand most are not as interested in these things as you and I are. I can understand how they can temporarily be taken in by the propaganda which seems to surround them at every turn. I am far more disappointed by the people who ought to know better. I have had the priviledge of meeting and conversing with most of our state and national legislators from New Mexico. They are largely of a different party than I but good caring men at heart. I have no doubt that we will have differences in the nuance of things but why they would perpetuate the crumbling of the United States just boggles my mind. I know they must see all this and know better. Have we got to the point that politics resembles a football game or pep rally, my team right or wrong. How sad, when with mutual respect we could use the resources and intelligence of each of us to make this country all we know it can be. We have been given the opportunity to do so. Please my friends don't fail us now.

Roswell

A little story about our hometown controversy. I'm sure most that live here have heard it all before but it's interesting to note people are still writing about it.

Coffee Table

Lets Talk

The Good News Just Keeps On Comin

One down a few more to go. Looks like Karl Rove will get his comeupance. Joe Wilson turns out to be a truth teller. Karl is the one who outed Joes' CIA wife. Read about it here. Geez I hope this all plays out like it should. Nothing would do my heart more good than to see this guy go where he belongs. If he does I hope he gets the Abu Greb treatment. He has destroyed so many in the pursuit of power he deserves nothing less. Hurraaaaaaaay!!!!!!!

UPDATE: Here Whatever the case it appears we are about to get some movement on this thing. My speculation on this has always been Scooter Libby , a founding member of PNAC and VP Chensaws' right hand man. I just hope this story doesn't get "covered up" again by the media with the Supreme Court spectical. Both are important stories and deserve up front coverage. Hopefully both will drop the the girl lost in Aruba story off the wall to wall coverage map.
