Note To Republicans

With the election result about a week old now one of the big agenda items for the Republicans is how they approach the next 4 years. As a Democrat, be it a rather disgruntled one up to now, I suppose my thoughts aren't worth much to them. The fact remains they need people they don't have now so let me offer some thoughts. First places where I can find agreement with conservatives/Republicans:

1. The Constitution and its preservation is paramount.
Yes I believe in the 2nd amendment. I also believe in the 1st and the 4th and
all the rest of them . Some support for them also would be helpful.

2. Hard work and personal responsibility is a USA value.
And hard work will be valued again when it is... valued...like in $$$

3.(Many liberals will disagree with me on this) The traditional family with a mom and a dad is the best kind and best for children. Unfortunately my kids didn't get this but I wish they could have.

4.We should be fiscally responsible.
This doesn't mean we should not spend. It means we should set priorities, get the best value for our money, punish companies that go over budget and avoid large debts.

5.Crack down on illegal immigration.
While our reasons for doing this are dramatically different and the possible solutions may be different I share the goal.

6.Focus on small business.
You will have no problem getting the vast majority of liberals to go along here. As a matter of fact I think the tax breaks for large corporations should be going instead to small and medium businesses. I also think that any company that has over 30% of its operations outside the country or maybe North America should not be considered a United States company and should receive fewer advantages than a home company.

Ok, now the biggest problems for Republicans.

1.Everything I say here will be ignored as the rantings of a liberal.
They act like teenagers who think they know it all. They won't listen to anybody, refuse to find a common ground on anything and roar in outrage at every little thing. When they go up against an adult the majority of the country is going to choose the adult. Kid Hannity is the perfect example here. Whenever I watch him I see a little boy in a big boy suit.

2.They hate everything and everyone and find it all a life altering threat.
For hating the victim mentality so much they sure do a dead on imitation of it. Drama queens to the max.

3.Name calling, demonization and division.
Calling me a terrorist appeaser, America hater, baby killer, and on and on....Well pretty soon they cover vilifying over half of the country simply because they disagree with them and they lose.

4.Social conservatives.
The United States was founded partially because they got tired of somebody else's religion being rammed down their throat. Keep it up and this will not only be the base, it will be all that is left.

5.Fear mongering
Pretty soon it looks like they are the cowards. Scared of everything. You don't have to blow up or destroy everything that scares you. When your only tool is a hammer everything looks like a nail.

6.Supporting things they said they were against in the last administration.
Like foreign entanglements and Constitutional violations like warrantless wiretapping etc.

Yes there is more on both ends but this covers some of the biggest of the big picture.

So what will they do? My prediction is they will hammer away with all the negatives I have listed above. They will continue to run the angry white male/talk show shouter/I'm a better American than you gamit that they have slipped into like an old pair of boots. They will lose even worse in 2010 and finally decide that blaming the 'liberal media' for their defeat will not lead to victory.

Wow!!! You're back. Where have you been? The rightwingnut blogs/sites again when you said you were done for a while? This is serious, Ron. I think you have an addiction to fighting with The Game and the other rightwingnuts. I think it might be time for an intervention. :-)
Re: your kids... they have both a mom and a dad-just not together- and since divorce is so common these days, their situation is pretty common. Just stick with your plan to be CO bound.
I am all for helping small businesses and hate it that I sometimes have to shop at Wally World. I would like to see us revisit the days when even urban neighborhoods had their family owned grocery stores, etc. I said 4 years ago (online) that we needed to give the tax breaks to small businesses and companies, especially those companies that keep their jobs in the U.S.A. and use the tariff system to help America first. Gee, it was nice to see the politicians suddenly start saying the same thing. Proves that some of them listen to the people some of the time. It would be nice if we stopped rewarding the corporations that have sold America down the river and across the ocean to China.
Re: the Constitution-Maddow is reporting on the 90 regulations that Bush wants to put through before he leaves office (supposedly this is going to be harder to undo than we think) which includes The Unpatriotic Act stuff to help Big Brother spy on us, but, also, making it tougher for OSHA to enforce workplace safety, and helping local officials to more effectively ignore The Endangered Species Act.
One of my coworkers told me today that nowhere in The Constitution is there a provision made to allow Presidential pardons, so Bush should NOT be able to give pardons out willynilly to all the war criminals (you know who they are), but he surely will. Will this apply to them being tried in International Court?
You're right on about the rest of what you said.
Not sure how I feel about us turning the other cheek re: Joe the Traitor. Guess, we can't afford to alienate him when he usually votes like a Democrat. Sigh! Didja hear that Duh-bya has to put off writing his memoirs for 5 years as his popularity is so low now that sales would be horrible? Laura is writing hers, tho. She is trying to protect the Blue Sharks off the Marinara Islands and fighting with Cheney about it. Gotta agree with Olbermann when he says that that makes no sense, as sharks are the species most closely related to Cheney...except in this case it would be RED sharks not BLUE ones.
Am so sick of hearing Palin talk about the clothes...gonna gag if I hear any more of it. Why doesn't this idjit want to fade into the background now? She's like those crazy people who go on Jerry Springer. No wonder they call her family the Wasilla Hillbillies. Hope that Greg Palast will go to Alaska and investigate election fraud if convicted criminals Stevens and Young actually did "win" their races cuz it didn't look at all like they would.
And since you didn't add a comment on your LAST post, Ron...GBMT!!!
Peace!

You should've predicted that they would use the $700 Bil. bailout to further enrich those who caused this financial mess in the first place. That would be the greedy corporate globalists, although my ex who is in total denial about lasseiz faire captialists would tell you all it's the doing of the Muslims/Arabs who are trying to undermine Bush by raising the price of oil. And that of course is why we should drill in ANWR cuz global warming is mostly a natural phenomenon and that can be proven by looking at historical maps. Gah!!
And that is coming from the guy who spent the last 6 months telling me that Obama has no voting record, is a Black Panther wanna be, a liar, and an Islamic who will hand the country over to the terrorists, but now says if he'd voted he would've voted for Obama. Did I mention that he loves Condi Rice? Gah!!
Speaking of women, love it that Hillary might be up for Sec. of State. Seems to me that I've suggested this several times including to our President Elect. Kerry, Daschle, and Richardson are up, too. Sadly, even tho I would love to see Clinton or Kerry get it, better be Richardson. He has the experience and there will be no GOP Governor to appoint a Republican't to the Senate as a replacement.
The Democrat is ahead in Alaska-yea!! What is Coleman's problem in Minnesota and why is he opposing the recount? Don't Republicans want to be sure they really win their elections? Oh wait, what am I saying? LOL Don'tcha just love it that McCain made that nice acceptance speech and has now gone to GA to trash Obama to help Saxby C.. (Hate that name. No one named Saxby (too much like Anglo-Saxon as in WASP)should ever be elected to any office...but love to say the names Barack and Obama. :-) ) Don't know about Obama going to GA, tho. Makes me nervous. Isn't GA the birthplace of the KKK?
Check out the great video of Obama footage with the background of Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World"

Here is something morealthough I don't agree that it is "liberals" and "moderates" who won't listen but the increasingly self-pity and self-loathing of those who won't reason and their make-a-buck masters.

Hi Larry! Hope you watched the slideshow of Obama to "What a Wonderful World". It should be on TV instead of the endless interviews with and stories about Scary Palin.
The whole world seems to have Obamania. Dancing in the streets all over the world, naming babies after him, renaming a mountain, etc., the commemorative coin has now come out, and the poor guy can't even go to the gym in the morning without the press trailing him, not to mention the sites devoted to naming the future White House puppy. (I said whatever the Kenyan or Swahili word for HOPE is. Still think that to be fair there should be a kitten going to the White House, too. Barack was born in the sign of Leo in the Year of the Tiger-one would think he'd be a cat lover. Sigh!)Anyway, I digress...saw graffiti in the ladies room at the local library...OBAMA SUCKS!...and tried to clean it off with no success and had to report this to the circulation mgr. Little anti-social brats in this town need a trip out behind the woodshed. Some of this is about his race, but most of it is the freaking redneck gangbanger mentality that celebrates ignorance, so anyone who is intelligent, educated, and articulate is someone to hate. McSame having been in the military is a macho hero to these anti-intellectual types. Gah! Then I had to clean more chalk graffiti off the sidewalk-this merely pro-McCain. Well, we all have to do whatever small things we can do to make any kind of difference in this place full of ignorant redneck fanatics even if it's only to turn the Coultergeist's books around in our local bookstores/library-right?
Why all the negativity re: Hillary as Secretary of State? I need to look this up, but I have heard that the Gov. of NY is a Dem. My only problem with her leaving the Senate for the Cabinet is that if the Gov. is a Republican he will appoint another Republican not a Dem. Otherwise, she and Bill would make the dream team re: diplomacy and foreign relations. The press should be excited about the possibility of that instead of being down on it.
And Ron, if you can pull yourself away from talking to The Game long enough GBMT!

I believe Tennessee is the birthplace of the KKK.
Larry, interesting article on talk radio but don't think it is a secret to most.:-)

You're right-Founded in 1866 in Pulaski, Tennessee, as a social group for veterans, but used by some to terrorize* former slaves. However, a new KKK was founded in Atlanta, GA in 1915 that "directed its activities against Negroes, Jews, Roman Catholics, so called radicals**, and foreigners." (World Book)
Still have to question the wisdom of Barack going to GA or anyplace in the Deep South with all the assassination threats there have been.
* Y'know that the KKK, Aryan Nation, etc. are all or mostly GOP rightwingnuts who are all for terrorizing minorities? Wouldn't that mean that these wacko Repubicans are terrorists?
**Today their definition of radical is Liberal-wish they'd all look in their mirrors if they want to see what a radical really looks like.

OK, have egg on my face now...thought Obama was born in 1962, but remembered wrong. He was born in the Year of the Ox-too bad, cuz he sounds just like a water tiger. Oh, well, he's still a Leo and there should be a White House cat.
